so my jw mother-in-law is having some rather major abdominal surgery today.
given the type of surgery, there is a chance that the blood issue may come up, where in worst case if there's a loss of blood she may need a transfusion.. so in the waiting room for the entire 3 1/2 hour surgery are two elders.
these guys don't know my mil that well, and they are not there to support her... when it comes down to it:.
My daughter is a specialist childrens' nurse and in her experience JW parents have in every incidence in which she has been involved have said give the transfusion just don't tell us.
No parent would want their child to die to gain their own salvation.
Glad MIL has made full recovery without the need so much better if you can.

It appears that the lurkers must have spent an awful long time on the site to glean enough information to work out who the people are.

Another point, surely it is definitely not Christian behaviour to take out a loan that they believed that they would never ever repay.

To the victim the paedophile's background is irelevant the damage to the victim is the same.
However, it is the fact that we expect more from a Christian person, higher standards etc. etc. that therefore they are going to get more criticism when they commit the crime than if it was say an atheist. Furthermore, it can be argued that because someone is a Jehovah's witness our expectations are so much higher, our barriers are down and we are far more likely to trust them and let our guard down thus giving them more or easier opportunity to commit their crime.
It is for this latter reason that they will be criticised more than others.

Firstly, Mrs Jones I have read many of your posts since I became a member of this site and I think you give good advice.
I see where you are coming from with this boy. It is important like you say to keep the door open as anything said which may get back to his parents and they don't like could stop his trips to your house and as you know JW children don't often have much of a social life.
I think many have given good advice here. Sometimes I think if you say something positive that can work. For example as you have detected he doesn't like the work he has at the moment you could state that any experience is a good experience because it helps someone to make up their mind more fully about what they don't want do and lead them onto something that they really want to do. This could leave to the conversation where you say something like as you are not keen on this kind of work has this helped you to focus on something else that you might like to try.
Also, I felt with my children that working as students is an advantage as they can try many different things and none of it affects the CV in the way that full time employment does. If, for example, one leaves school for full time employment and keeps changing because they don't like the job it looks bad. However, as a student he can try many different jobs and it just won't matter and in fact can be seen as a positive.

I think Jah1914 has probably hit the nail on the head. There probably isn't one religion that is 100% correct. It is all down to interpretation.
The most major thing that put me of JWs was that they would preach untruths about other religions from the platform. Most listening, if they were either born ins or hadn't attended church before they joined the witnesses would be unaware of the inaccuracy of some of the statements.
In my opinion no Christian would include in part of their preaching slanderous statements about other religions - it is not Christ like behaviour at all. They should concentrate on getting what they are doing right, i.e. attending to the plank in their own eye.
Furthermore, surely just treating others how one would wish to be treated comes above everything else if one is living a Christian life. Being a Christian is liviing every second as one not just when mixing with one's own kind.
Everyone on this site can quote eloquently about what scriptures and verses we should be using etc. I only attended the KH for six years so am nowhere near as conversant but I can simply tell by someone's behaviour as to whether it is in harmony with what God would want for his people.
I KNOW that it is certainly not Christian to shun people so that they sometimes commit suicide, or that if people leave they may never see members of their families again or that spending more times knocking on doors or attending more meetings than others makes you a better Christian. Anyone can do those things to LOOK like a Christian but it is meaningless.
When I worked in Central London I was amazed at just how many volunteered from the various churches each night to give out soup and sandwiches to the homeless, they really got out there and helped the needy just a Jesus wanted us all to do.
i've bought lots of cars over the last 35 years or so - mostly fiats and alfa romeos.
i'm a dedicated italian car fan.. my very first car was a tiny fiat 500 with a tiny air-cooled motor in the rear (trunk).
it was a 1967 car - they first appeared in 1957. it was cheap to run, slow, and very basic - but i just loved it!.
We live halfway up a valley in West Wales and though we had very little snow it then froze into ice and made getting in and out of the village impossible for two wheel drive cars. However, four wheel drives are gas guzzlers if you don't need one very often and therefore if you look at the following link for snow socks. Apparently, a car with snow chains or socks is better than a four wheel drive in snow. Snow socks are quick and easy to put on and remove. Has anyone tried them?
I would definitely buy an economical car but I have to have an automatic because of problems with my leg and unfortunately you lose some economy with an automatic.

it was one of many typical jw stories of a good devout jdub "resisting temptation" and accepting the borg as absolute truth.
I remember once the Book Study Conductor at our Group saying that witnesses have the equivalent to a degree with all their education!
my wife and i were both jw's for the past 28 years.
we left two years ago, we wrote our da letters and split.. my wife felt very contained, there was no room to grow.
i started to fade slowly, but when my mom died, i saw the complete lack of love from the brothers and that sealed the deal for me.. we have two sons, 22 and 26, who we raised as witnesses, not the die hard type, just try and do your best.
